Steam from Valve has evolved again to host mods that can be downloaded from their Steam client and used to connect to servers hosting each mod game type with the new service called the MOD Squad. At Gamespace we are proud to have these game type servers up to let people find a good place to play locally. The first 5 mods out are: Age of Chivalry, D.I.P.R.I.P., Insurgency, Synergy, and Zombie Panic. Valve is also helping out the mod community by offering SDKs, mod expos and more. These can be found and installed free of charge and will appear on your game list once installed, stats for each mod and will have automatic updates as per usual.

Nintendo’s new DSi coming soon
Nintendo has announced the new improved DSi which will supersede the old DS with some nice new features and toys. It will have a larger 3.25" dual screens, integrated cameras, sd card slot and music player. It will also be slightly thinner than the original handheld device and have the ability to purchase items over its wifi connection. The new console will go on sale Novemeber 1st in Japan while the rest of the world won't see the DSi until sometime next year with a date to be announced hopefully soon.
The rumor mill is churning that people at Nintendo are hard at work making some hardware advances in research for their new killer console. Other ideas floating around are that the Wii will be in true HD, also will have locally saved content like on a hard drive and possible backward compatibility with older games. With a research and development budget of around 370 million dollars this year, something big seems inevitable.
What do you think the new Nintendo console will be like when it is released?
Activision has signed up with IGA Worldwide who specialise in in-game advertising to dish out ads in future PS3 games. The first of these is Guitar Hero: World tour due on the 26th of October. Dave Anderson from Activision had this to say about the deal “by incorporating dynamic in-game advertising in our titles where it is appropriate, we can increase the realism of our games by presenting consumers with authentic environments in genuine settings, while also expanding a key growth opportunity for the company." While Justin Townsend from IGA Worldwide added this “to partner with them demonstrates the appeal of in-game advertising to marketers and consumers, alike. We will be able to connect more brands with engaged users than ever before." So it looks like the future is advertising in games for Activision to further squeeze each titles popularity.
Will this cause a consumer backlash over unwanted additions in future games?

Another game has just hit the brick wall with being refused classification (banned) from Australia for "excessive violence.” The game is based on a survival horror theme and that usually means violence to protect oneself and there has had no problems with any of the franchise before. This makes the Office of Film and Literature Classification (OFLC) more enemies in the gaming world where companies have to make special “Australia only” editions of games to sell to the Aussie market. Konami, the makers of the game have about 2 months to edit the game or skip the Australian market altogether. This is yet another big game being refused just because Australia does not have an 18+ category for games.
Were you planning on buying this game and if still interested in getting the game after this bad news, how will you get your copy?
